How long is a Saxon Switzerland day trip from Prague?

Plan for a full day, usually 10 to 11 hours door to door. The drive to the Bohemian side takes about 1.5 to 2 hours each way, and tours typically spend a few hours walking at the Bastei and one or two Czech viewpoints.

What do tours from Prague usually include?

Most include transport, a guide and time at the Bastei Bridge, plus a stop in Bohemian Switzerland such as the Pravčická brána area or the Hřensko gorges. Some add Dresden. Check each listing for lunch, entry fees and pickup, because these vary.

Do I need my passport?

Is it better to go by train?

The train works if you like to plan: Prague to Bad Schandau, then local trains or buses to Rathen and the Bastei. It is cheaper but slower, and you will see fewer places in one day than on a tour.

How fit do I need to be?

Moderate. Expect uneven sandstone steps and several hundred metres of climbing on some walks. Good walking shoes matter more than fitness.
